Max Planck Center for Physics and Medicine (MPZPM) opened

The new Max Planck Center for Physics and Medicine (MPZPM) was officially opened in September 2024. It is a joint project of the three cooperation partners Max Planck Institute for the Science of Light (MPL), Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) and Universitätsklinikum Erlangen (UK). The aim of the new research center is to apply advanced methods of experimental physics and mathematics to basic biomedical research. The focus is on the intercellular microenvironment. Prof. Dr. Jochen Guck, Director at the Max Planck Institute for the Science of Light, talks further about the goals of the new research center in this video interview.

The Max Planck Center strengthens Erlangen’s role as a hub for innovation in biomedical research and offers exciting options for doctoral theses after graduation.
