Placement tests and registration for courses at the Language Center in summer semester 2025
If you want to acquire new language skills, you should register for the language courses of the Language Center. The courses are free of charge for enrolled students at FAU! The registration period for all courses and languages starts on April 07, 2025 at 10 a.m. and ends on April 23, 2025 at 6 pm and registration takes place via StudOn. Only for the English courses in philological degree programs do different dates apply; For further information, please refer to the respective course information pages on StudOn.

The Language Center’s course catalog can be found on campo. The range of courses that can be taken alongside your degree program is available under the heading General electives including key qualifications and language courses > Language courses (according to language). The range of courses integrated into degree programs is accessible via the tree structure of your degree program.
Please note that changes to the courses on offer are possible until the beginning of the lecture period. Please therefore check all the information again before the semester begins.
The requirements and procedures for registration can vary between languages and also between courses in some cases. Make sure you find out what you need to know in good time so that you don’t miss the opportunity to improve your language skills.
You may need to take a placement test to assess your ability before registering for a course. The dates for the placement tests in Erlangen and Nuremberg are now available on StudOn. You can register for a test as of now:
Important: If you attend a course in Nuremberg, it is recommended that you take the test in Nuremberg as well.
You carry out the test individually. However, please do not use any aids, as the test is used to assign you a suitable course level.
